When you rate a movie during onboarding, the app records two things: the movie's ID and the rating you gave it (๐ / ๐คท / ๐ / ๐๐). That's the entire dataset the app keeps about you.
| Data | Collected? |
|---|---|
| Movie ratings you give | Yes โ stored on your device |
| Name, email, or account | Not collected |
| Location | Not collected |
| Contacts or photos | Not collected |
| Advertising or analytics identifiers | Not collected |
Your ratings are saved locally on your phone (in the app's on-device storage) so they're there next time you open CineLobby. To generate recommendations, the app sends your ratings to CineLobby's recommendation server for that one request โ the server computes a list of suggested movies and does not save your ratings or associate them with your device, IP address, or any identifier.
Movie titles, genres, and audience ratings come from the MovieLens research dataset. Poster artwork is retrieved from The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. No information about you is sent to TMDB โ only a movie's catalog ID, to fetch its poster image.
CineLobby does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13 โ there's no sign-up, and nothing typed in beyond picking a thumbs rating on a movie poster.
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. Since the app collects so little to begin with, we don't expect that to happen often.
